Harihar Fort is an ancient fort located in Nashik district, Maharashtra, India. The fort is situated at an elevation of 3,676 feet above sea level and is surrounded by steep cliffs on all sides. The fort was built during the Yadava dynasty and later captured by the Bahmani Sultanate, the Marathas, and the British. The fort is known for its unique architecture, with steep rock-cut steps leading to the top. The steep steps are carved into the rock face, making the climb challenging. At the top of the fort are two small ponds, temples dedicated to Lord Hanuman and Lord Shiva, and a small cave. The fort was strategically important as it offered a clear view of the surrounding area and was used to keep an eye on the trade routes passing through the region. Today, the fort is a popular trekking destination and attracts many adventure enthusiasts. To reach the fort, one must start from the Harsh Wadi base village and climb up the steep steps. The trek is considered moderate.
